FRANKFURT – To meet the escalating demands for compact control solutions in building and industrial automation, Siemens has officially unveiled the LOGO! 9, the latest generation of its established smart logic controller, at the Light + Building trade fair in Frankfurt.

Marking the company’s first comprehensive product upgrade in 11 years, the LOGO! 9 sets a new benchmark for "everyday automation." It is engineered to deliver significant performance enhancements, modern ease of use, flexible engineering, and forward-looking security, perfectly aligning with the needs of modern automation projects. The LOGO! 9 is scheduled to be officially available starting April 1, 2026.

Addressing the Evolution of Compact Control

The new controller is designed to handle increasingly complex tasks that previously required larger systems. From switching building services to mechanical engineering, the LOGO! 9 simplifies small-scale automation while offering the power of larger PLCs.

Key Features and Enhancements

1. Doubled Performance and Expanded I/O
The LOGO! 9 offers up to 800 function blocks—double the capacity of its predecessor—enabling support for more complex and diverse logic applications without the need for additional control equipment.

• Expanded I/O: The system supports up to 64 digital inputs, 60 digital outputs, and 16 analog inputs/outputs.
• Advanced Analog Processing: The new Analog Extension Module (AM4) features selectable analog resolution and supports floating-point arithmetic, allowing for high-precision control and measurement processing directly within the controller.

2. Modern On-Device Operation
A standout feature is the new color touchscreen display (320 × 240 pixels) located directly on the base module. The larger display area allows operators to view more information at a glance, ensuring clear operation and rapid diagnostics.

• For enhanced visibility, a new 4.3-inch LOGO! Text Display (480 × 272 pixels) is also available, equipped with two Ethernet ports for secure communication with the base module.

3. Cross-Platform Engineering with LOGO! Soft Comfort V9
Siemens has introduced a new plug-and-play engineering environment:

• LOGO! Soft Comfort V9: Can be installed via USB flash drive and is fully backward compatible with older versions and projects.
• LOGO! Web Editor: Now includes simulation capabilities and supports macOS and Linux in addition to Windows, making it a truly cross-platform tool.
• User Management (UMAC): A new system with 4 distinct roles (from Administrator to Operator) ensures clear permission assignment and significantly speeds up the engineering process.

4. Future-Proof Security and Sustainability
Designed with longevity in mind, the LOGO! 9 complies with Siemens' EcoTech certification standards, meeting future sustainability requirements.

• Security: Features include Secure Boot and secure LOGO! communication to prevent tampering and unauthorized access.
• Lifecycle Management: Firmware updates via LSC (LOGO! Soft Comfort) are streamlined, and the device allows for factory resets while retaining IP addresses, ensuring secure and efficient operation throughout its lifecycle.
